What We Do

At Open Door Support, we believe that all adults, regardless of their abilities, deserve the chance to live fulfilling, independent lives. That’s why we’ve partnered with the California Department of Developmental Services’ (DDS) Independent Living Services (ILS) program to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through this program, we provide the essential training, guidance, and resources needed to help our clients lead more independent lives within their communities.

Our approach is personalized and comprehensive. We work one-on-one with each individual to assess their unique goals and needs, then create a customized plan. This might include:

  • Skill-building training: We offer practical lessons on everything from cooking and budgeting to public transportation and household management.
  • Personalized aide: Our trained staff provides hands-on support to help with daily living activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Resource navigation: We help clients connect with vital community resources, such as housing assistance, vocational training, and social opportunities.

By focusing on these key areas, we help our clients build the confidence and skills they need to navigate the world on their own terms. Our goal is to open doors to greater independence, enabling adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to thrive in their communities.
